Terms of use

These terms cover your use of the Probably Not Robots Records website (the “Site”), including any comments, forum posts, or other contributions you make on it. They’re separate from the music license, which covers the tracks themselves.

By using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.

1. Using the site

You may browse, stream, and download releases for personal use, and use them as described in our music license. You agree not to:

interfere with, disrupt, or place an undue load on the Site or its infrastructure;
attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site, its accounts, or its systems;
use the Site to distribute malware, spam, or unlawful content; or
misrepresent your affiliation with PNR or impersonate any person or artist.

2. No scraping

Outside of normal, individual browsing, listening, and downloading as permitted by the music license, you agree not to use bots, crawlers, scrapers, or similar automated tools to:

bulk-download audio files, artwork, or other media from the Site;
systematically copy or harvest release metadata, artist pages, blog content, or other text from the Site; or
bypass rate limits, access controls, or anti-automation measures (including the bot checks used by our streaming player).

If you’d like data for a legitimate purpose — research, an aggregator, a fan project — email hello@notrobots.fyi and ask. We’re generally happy to help if you ask a person instead of writing a script.

3. Comments, forums, and other contributions

If we offer comments, forums, or other places for you to post content (“Contributions”), the following applies to anything you post:

You own your words. You retain ownership of your Contributions.
You grant us a license. By posting, you grant PNR a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute your Contribution on the Site and in connection with promoting the Site (for example, featuring a comment in a blog post or on social media), with attribution to you where practical.
You’re responsible for what you post. You agree not to post content that:
- is illegal, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or threatening;
- infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights;
- contains malware, spam, or unsolicited advertising; or
- impersonates another person or entity.
We can moderate. We may remove, edit, or refuse to publish any Contribution, and may suspend or terminate a user’s ability to post, at our discretion and without notice. We’re a small, human team — we won’t always catch everything immediately, and we won’t always explain a moderation decision.

4. Intellectual property

Except for the music (covered by the music license) and your own Contributions, the Site’s design, layout, branding, text, and code are owned by PNR or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works from the Site itself (as distinct from the music) without our permission.

5. Third-party links and services

The Site may link to or embed third-party services (for example, streaming platforms or social media). We aren’t responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party sites.

6. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, PNR will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

7. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the date below and, where appropriate, post a notice on the Site. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
