Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Probably Not Robots Records (“PNR,” “we,” “us”) collects when you use this website (the “Site”), and what we do with it. We try to collect as little as we reasonably can.

1. Information we collect

Website analytics

We use website analytics to understand how the Site is used — for example, which pages and releases are popular, what devices and browsers people use, and roughly where visitors come from. This may include:

• pages visited, referring page, and time spent;
• device, browser, and operating system information; and
• an approximate location derived from your IP address (typically country or region level — see below).

We aim to use privacy-respecting analytics that report in aggregate and avoid building individual visitor profiles, and we don’t use this data to identify you personally.

Approximate location (IP-based geolocation)

Like most websites, our servers and infrastructure can see the IP address your device connects from. We may use this to derive an approximate location (such as country or region) for analytics, security, and to serve the Site efficiently (for example, via a content delivery network). We don’t use IP-based location to pinpoint your precise location, and we don’t combine it with other data to build a profile of you.

Server and security logs

Our hosting and security providers (including services like Cloudflare, used for the Site and its streaming player) keep standard server logs, which can include IP addresses, request timestamps, and similar technical data. These logs are used for security, abuse prevention (including bot-detection checks on the streaming player), and troubleshooting, and are retained only as long as needed for those purposes.

Information you give us directly

If you email us, submit a demo, fill out a contact form, or post a comment, we receive whatever information you include — typically your email address, name (if given), and the content of your message or post.

Cookies and local storage

We use minimal cookies or local storage for things like remembering your light/dark theme preference. We don’t use these for advertising or cross-site tracking.

2. How we use this information

We use the information above to:

• operate, maintain, and improve the Site;
• understand aggregate usage patterns (what’s popular, what’s broken);
• protect the Site and our streaming player from abuse, scraping, and automated attacks;
• respond to emails, demo submissions, and other messages you send us; and
• moderate comments or forum posts, if and where those exist (see our Terms of Use).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

3. Third-party services

Some parts of the Site rely on third-party infrastructure providers (for example, for hosting, content delivery, bot protection, and analytics). These providers process data on our behalf and may have their own logs and retention practices, governed by their own privacy policies.

4. Data retention

We keep analytics and log data only for as long as it’s useful for the purposes described above, and emails or messages for as long as needed to handle your request and keep reasonable records.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you’re located, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we hold about you (for example, emails you’ve sent us). To make a request, email hello@notrobots.fyi — a person will handle it.

6. Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the date below.
